Driver orientation.............

When the "foist" of the RTS began arriving in "Noo YawK", I am curious if there were "driver orientation" classes, to familiarize drivers with the new "space age" buses?

I am sure that the drivers felt quite "alien" not being at the controls of a Fishbowl or a "Dangerfield"......

Quite possibly, just as I can envision orientation training sessions for Fishbowls when the first "Jetsons" arrived on "Tee-Yay" property in 1959, after the last decade (in their case) of "Kramdens." Especially since the Fishbowls at 102" were wider than the 96" "Kramdens."

Indeed, "En-Jay-Tee" drivers also had to have an onteresting time of it, when those totally horrendous VOLVO artics began arriving, in the later 1980s............. Shocked Razz

MaBSTOA 15:

That's good question; I've long wondered about what happened to these 30-footers myself.

I remember seeing them on the #751; NJT had them painted in this horrible-looking "wave" scheme that did nothing for them.

Also, I've wondered about the fate of the ex-MTA RTS tha tACADEMY was then using on the "22"(these were GOOD buses!!)

I also recall ACADEMY, back in the late 1990s, operating a 30-foot RTS "EMPLOYEE BUS" that I rode a few times years ago, when no other buses on the "BOULEVARD EAST" route were available (this MIGHT have been an ex-DART bus)

VERY few seats and NO a/c.....(!!)] Razz

"NYO"

(those used on the #751 were replaced by NABIs)
