.....still wish theie had been ar least been ONE "Honeymooners" episode (b/w or color) were we actually got to see Ralph "briving a dus", as dd Cedric The Entertainer in the "Honeymooners" movie........

Had this been taken a year later, the company name on the sides would have no doubt read 'FIFTH AVENUE COACH LINES INC.' rather than 'NEW YORK CITY OMNIBUS CORPORATION'. Regardless, it highlights that the fictitious 'Gotham Bus Company' was a thinly-disguised NYCO - and that boss Mr. Marshall was probably modeled after longtime FACCo and NYCO prexy John E. McCarthy. |
As 'MaBSTOA 15' noted in another thread, #2969 was retired and scrapped some time around 1966 - it was conspicuously absent from the "reserve buses" list as of Jan. 1, 1967 when the new " 'stoa" A/C "batwing" Fishbowls were already on the property. A durned shame, 'twas. Which is why a former "Bee O'Tee" bus, #4789, had to be passed off as "2969" at Honeymooners conventions and such. |
