It now costs MORE to ride "the tubes" than it does the NYC subways......oh, joy! Razz

I haven't been on PATH in the last year, and if they don't take MetroCards, I don't think I'll set foot on "the Tubes" for the rest of my life. Something tells me "OMNY" is not accepted on PATH.

W.B.:

Given how the "Pee-Yay" has modernized and homogenized "the tubes" over the past few decades, you won't be missing much.

So little of the "McAdoo era" still remains today.....and, with RFWs all gone, and traditional block signals now history, well, I certainly have no desire to go "down the tubes".

Threat of crime/random attacks while in the system further deters me.

And, to think, back in the day, Your's Truly railfanned every inch of "the tubes"(and having a hoot of a time!), several decades back

I indeed "communed" with the spirit of the illustrious and industrious Mr. McAdoo on a QUITE intomate basis, back in those days.

Last ride I took was not long after the "new" WTC terminal opened, when the tracks were still exposed to the sunlight.......

Last I was on PATH, they DID accept MetroCards. Apparently as you say, this is no longer the case. Oh well . . .

W.B.:

I STILL have (in its small holder) the PATH fare card I last used oin that fateful morning of 9/11 (HOB-WTC)

Why PATH ever decided to eliminate tokens at all, and switch to exact fare (30 cents) still does not make sense to me.....I always found tokens both convenient and traditional.....

Which is most likely why PATH, "Em-Tee-Yay" and other transit agencies did away with them and went all "digital" . . .

W.B,:

If I am not mistaken, the oft-forgotten Roosevelt Island Tram was the last transit operation in "Noo Yawk" to use tokens...............
