In "AMERICAN BUSES"(David Jacobs, 1985) there is a very atmospheric twilight photo of the GREYHOUND terminal at New Orleans, clearly showing the "sawtooth" positioning of the buses.

The author comments:

"......like a litter of piglets suckling on the sow, these Greyhound buses line up at the New Orleans terminal.............."

Interesting viewpoint! Wink

You are most welcome; like yourself, I never saw any of those historic pictures before....indeed, the sheer variety of highway caches at the time truly was indeed a feast to the eyes of the bus enthusiasts of the era! Wink

The veteran front-engined coach was indeed the "odd one out", surrounded by modern, rear-engined buses.....the "new order" was indeed in full swing!

(the older-model"Supercoach" would have been the "719", I believe)

One can only imagine how many urban terminals/stations once served the nation's bus travelers, many years ago.

Think of how many no longer exist today (most, obviously, have long since been razed) Sad

That is why saving what remains today of the heyday of intercity bus travel must be preserved for future generations! Wink

Was quite lucky to come across this classic, timeless photo from 1940 (the late Jim Lehrer would have indeed liked this one!) Wink

On the right, we see the broad, well-rounded, distinctive rear of a "CAROLINA TRAILWAYS" Flxible "CLIPPER"; on the left, we have a vintage, circa-1930 parlor coach, complete with faux rear observation platform! Very Happy

Again, a VERY interesting and colorful time for the bus enthusiasts of that era! Wink

Here's a truly timeless, classic terminal scene (c. late 1960s) with a handsome TRAILWAYS 4106 front and center; NO WONDER the driver seems to be in a happy mood! Very Happy
