We've discussed the roof-top radio blisters, fins, and antennaes on the old looks, the new looks, the 870s and the RTS but we have failed to mention the Leyland double deckers...
Note the antennae on the front directly mounted above the massive front destination signs. As well as the side speaker aft of the front door.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
In all honesty, I NEVER even thought of the LEYLAND demo being equipped with radio! (you DO learn something NEW every day, on this board!)
Had to squint, but I DID spot that antenna on the ex-SURFACE Fishbowl!
GREAT photos, as always!!!!!!!!!!!!

How "hi tech" such bus communications seemed to us, back in a more innocent time, when the most futuristic glimpses we got were courtesy of the '64 Fair and "The Jetsons"!

Thought that 3143 was ex-Fifth Avenue Coach Lines. Surface Transit's allotment would have been 3161-3210.

1970.......to think Your's Truly was but 13 at the time!
1970.......first-generation Fishbowls were still commonplace, and, sadly, how we took them for granted......

Back in the 1960's, a Japanese toy company made a large-size, battery operated "radio controlled" Fishbowl; the one I purchased at an antique store, nearly 30 years ago, is almost a scale model, with its attention to detail.
Needless to say, I am QUITE fond of it (as I alo am of the many other vintage Fishbowl toys in my archives!)
