I'm sure us old timers remember the whimsical VW campaign ads of the 1960's. Here's one that I sure Mr. L can fill us in with more information about the Mack bus. As a sidenote, the very comparison of the first generation VW "Station Wagon" (complete with 21 windows) with an actual bus was the genesis of the moniker used today to describe this type VW as a "bus".

The bus in the photo has unmistakable Jamaica Buses colors and roll signs, complete with a correct route and destination. But as I recall, Jamaica did not have any buses, Mack or GM, that had a 4 digit fleet number. And Jamaica's Macks, as I recall, had the metallic decoratrion of five strips that got smaller as each one got closer to the bumper. This bus has no such trim.

frankie,

It started out as a photograph of a Jamaica Buses bus but that's about as far as it got before the artist fooled with it!

While the destination sign, windshield and interior are untouched, the rest, I'm afraid, is a figment of the artist's imagination including but not limited to misplaced directional signals, wrong bumper for a Mack, too many fleet assignment numbers, missing bright work under the windshield and a 'V' neckline that is way too low.

Attached is a very much more reasonable facsimile of a Jamaica Buses bus.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'
