In a continuing effort by the Los Angeles County MTA to update its fleet and increase passenger capacity (as per a court order), the latest NABI 60 BRT's have proliferated the #4 route (Santa Monica Boulevard from the City of Santa Monica to downtown L.A.).
The buses are numbered in the upper 9700's and are painted in the now familiar orange and gray 'Local' colors.
Wilshire Boulevard, which runs parallel to Santa Monica, has had the 60's for some time already and they are mostly in the red "Rapid' colors.
An interesting bit of trivia about Santa Monica Boulevard; it is part of the historic Route '66' that originally ran from St. Louis to Santa Monica and is signed as such (for the tourists!).
