Really, they look pretty spiffy. Then again, they have Cummins ISM.

I saw the NovaBus LFX today on Park St. It's awesome. They are training so hard. I cannot wait for them to hit the road.

Still can't believe that New Flyer lost out to Nova for the artic order - you'd think that they would have been even more competitive since some support expenses can be shared with the large order for 35 and 40-footers.

Also makes me wonder if Nova would have won the whole order if CT Transit had only ordered 40-foot and 60-foot buses instead of also including 35-footers in the mix.

from what i understand, nova bus was the only one stable enough in the snow that ct transit safety liked, they went to different cities to try out artic and nova was the only one with least amount of movment of the middle part of the bus when moving in the snow, they are rear wheel drive and the middle wheels run away on a slepery rd.

hope you guys understand what i am trying to say

Since CT Transit had a good relationship with Nova in the past, I wasn't surprised that they did get a piece of this order. Even New Flyer's representatives knew going in to the bid that it would be very competitive and that they were not guaranteed any of the procurement. The way that the bid was written, the 35-foot and 40-foot buses could have been awarded to different companies, and I sure that New Flyer worked very hard to ensure that they did not lose out (note the quick delivery of the New Britain buses for one thing). I would like to see the losing bids as well for this order, but I haven't been able to come across that information.

The availability of stimulus money had an effect on this order as well, and if it had not been available, the results probably would have been different, with less variety of buses. I question if we would have seen as many hybrids, as well as the 60-footers, Xcelsiors and coaches for that matter.

The bright side, at least from a bus fan prospective, is that there will be new, and interesting variety in the CT Transit fleet.

That is true. I mean it is a perfect opportunity for NovaBus to show other transit systems that 2 companies with tneir older products are still investing time and money into this bus manufacturer.

The 9600s that operate in New Haven are the best. They operate anywhere and are on the road for all runs.

Too bad in Hartford, they are stuck to rush hour trips or used as relief buses that head to the Buckland Hills Mall to relieve drivers of the Crosstown buses.

I don't see why they don't keep them on the road, and just paint them into newer color. We could really use additional buses here in New Haven, there are some routes that really need more service. The B bus, for an example. There are supposed to be buses every 10 minutes. CTTransit should try getting buses every 5 minutes at times. Who knows, might not even make a difference, some buses don't show up. I've waited for an hour for a B bus that should have came every 10 minutes one afternoon.

Wow. I feel you. The 40/42-North Main St lines are the worst when comes catching a bus. No buses for 45 minutes and then they bunch up with 3 buses, in which there are 2 40 buses or 42 buses heading to the same destination, one packed while the other is empty.

come on 45min really i drive on this rute and yea we may be 20 25min late but not 45 give me a break, i mean make the math if they run every 10min and are running 45min late then they would be 5 o 6 buses at ones not 3 and i dont think so that has never happen
i dont mean to heat you up but this stament is really not true
