NovaBUS may (key word: may) be re-entering the US market. |

Realistically, there are probably too many manufacturers already in the industry. New Flyer and Gillig seem to be shipping more buses than ever, NABI has captured some major orders, and Orion is likely to make a big push once the bugs are worked out of the next-generation VII model. Even El Dorado is making a full-size bus now. Nova could jump back in but they're going to have to underbid companies to capture business. As for Millennium, I just don't see how any unproven manufacturer can make a serious dent in the market unless they severely underprice their competitors or guarantee the product. Millennium had a shot with the NJ Transit order, but that fiasco has undoubtedly given them a bad reputation among potential major customers. |

If NovaBus does re-enter the U.S. market, it would at least give some TAs more options. While the Nova LFS was a slow seller during Nova's tenure in the U.S. market, the new LFS Hybrid and LFS Artic may make it more attractive to some TAs. However, they would either have to build a new factory in the U.S. or reopen the Niskayuna factory in order to satisfy the Buy America requirements.
The Nova LFS artic would especially give more articulated bus options to some TAs, as New Flyer and NABI are the only two manufacturers of artics in the U.S. market. If a Nova LFS hybrid artic were offered, it could pose a challenge to the New Flyer DE60LF's monopoly in the hybrid artic market. Yes, I know NABI has made a diesel-electric hybrid version of the 60-BRT, but has yet to receive an order for it yet; most 60-BRTs produced so far are CNG-powered. |

Gillig has both a reputation and a business model to "stay small". Millennium had no money behind them and thought the RTS on its own merit would get their foot in the door. It almost did, but they couldn't back it up. |
