5227 would have been green when it was new.

There has been a suburban Orion V sitting inside Flatbush. I wouldn't be surprised if that becomes a museum bus.

If I am not mistaking, were'nt some of these remanufactured

Alison V-730 Transmission's in 1987?

Yes, some of the 5309A/10A (5500 series) used in express service did get the newer tranny. I think some of the 5305A 5100s too.

Being that New York City Transit has officially designated the once
remanufactured 1970 GMC Blitz TDH 5305A NYCTA bus #5227
as a museum bus after its retirement in 1995, I am surprised that the agency has decided not to restore this bus back to its original form by putting chrome bumpers on both the front and rear of the vehicle; and
repainting it back to two tone blue with the original fleet #4401. Exclamation

This bus, GMC T6H-5305A (4300-4499) was originally green. Fellow museum bus #8928 is the same model, but it's 2 years older.

I know nothing of this bus. I can tell you this, the bus I am talking about has a 0 in the number. And it is not a MSBA Orion V.

Let me take a wild guess. Is it a MCI Classics? There aren't any in the museum Fleet at the present moment

ALL MCI Classics are gone. Even the training bus went in the auction.

I guess you were referring to MTA-NYCTA Orion V Bus #101 (formerly #93001), I heard that bus was slated for preservation.

I'm pretty sure that 5227 was built in 1971. 7340 was built in 1974 according to the build plate that was stolen from it which was on the dashboard by the front door.

This info is CONFIRMED.
Now one thing- This was NOT the bus I was referring to in the past.

Bus 6350, an Orion VI Hybrid. There were only 10 of these buses. They were pulled from service a few years ago. The other 9 buses have since made a one way trip out of NYC.

In my opinion, it's really appropriate to preserve an Orion VI.
Those buses served as predecessors to the huge fleet of Orion VII HEV's that currently serve DOB and MTAB.
