Bee-Line fares to increase, service to expand
Relevant sections:
Quote: | Besides raising bus fares next year for the first time since 2003, Westchester County plans to add service that will reduce waiting on its most heavily traveled Bee-Line routes, replace some of its oldest buses, improve bus stops and make schedules more realistic for the 55,000 daily riders. |
Quote: | On Route 20 - the county's busiest - Salley said Westchester will add three weekday trips every hour between the Bedford Park subway station in the Bronx and Central Park Avenue/Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers.
It also will extend the last two southbound trips of the day to the Bedford Park station. On weekends, there will be four more trips per hour between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Rich Stiller, the county's director of surface transportation, said the extra buses will mean riders should see a bus every 10 minutes instead of every 20 minutes. |
Quote: | Bee-Line ridership is expected to increase by 12.7 percent next year, and the county plans to add service on seven other bus lines to accommodate extra riders.
The county also will replace 30 of its oldest coaches, used to carry BxM4c express bus riders to Manhattan. The first new coaches will arrive in June and the whole express bus fleet is scheduled to be replaced by the end of the summer. The county also will add particulate filters to reduce emissions on 104 articulated (accordion) buses. As it does annually, the county will replace 15 of its ParaTransit vans. |

I don't know wether to be happy about this or upset. Well I'm glad that there is gunna be a service increace, but another fare hike? I understand that this will help Beeline financialy, so I'm not upset. The fare hike will probably be like $2.50 or something like that. |

I wonder how this will affect Bee Line to NYCT transfers. If the base fare is increased, will they take the extra 25/50 cents out from the transfer, when using a NYC Transit bus or subway and you need to transfer to Bee Line. |
