"PAGING MR. TRAILDRIVER!"
(It's been awhile since you were last seen in these parts; your input and comments are indeed always MOST informative and MOST welcome!)
Hope to see you "on board" again very soon!

You rang?
I will usually post, when I have something to say about a subject of particular interest to me. I check the "posts since you last visited", every few days...

NEVER forget just how INTEGRAL you are to this forum; how much we ALL have learned on the bygone world of long-haul intercity bus operations, thanks to your overly-generous, highly-informative responses!

You are most welcome...it is truly my pleasure to share whatever knowledge I may have on any subject. It is fun to reminisce about the "good old days"... |

Indeed.....ALWAYS great fun recalling the "good old days", regarding highway coach operations (and, man, what I've learned from YOU, over the years!)
If you ever decide to pen a book (with a lOT of great photos!) on your many years experience in the bus industry, I'll be the FIRST in line at the book signing!

As of today (1/8/25) it has been at least two weeks since our good friend "traildriver" has posted.
With BusTalk seeing fewer and fewer postings each day (Your's Truly is at least TRYING to keep things going, after a fashion!), when an integral member of the board, such as "traildriver" is absent for any amount of time, the board, indeed, is at a loss.
This highly-knowledgeable gentleman is a highly-valuable source of intercity bus trivia (past and present), and his information has always been most EDUCATIONAL as well as most ENJOYABLE; indeed, he is a highly-valuable, greatly respected member of the BusTalk community, and, when not among us, a great void is felt.
Sure hope all is well, and he is "back amongst us" soon!

What I said...still goes, but thanks for the accolades.
Unfortunately, I find few NEW subjects of interest on this forum, but rather just multiple repeats of things we have discussed multiple times. When I see something that interests me, I will comment on it. |

Good to hear from you!
With no "new blood" joining BusTalk (it's been awhile!), it is indeed difficult to get a "fresh spin" on things; personally, I wish someone would join who worked for either GREYHOUND or TRAILWAYS back in the day (especially a driver, dispatcher, or a mechanic) who could infuse us with some interesting "behind the scenes" tidbits that, perhaps, we've overlooked in the past.
As I said earlier, I DO indeed try to keep things going, but, it DOES get a bit difficult, with far fewer people posting these days.......

NYO, I agree. This forum is only still going, because of you. You have replaced Mr. Linsky as the heart and soul of it, and I commend you for your efforts. When I joined this forum, it was a relatively quiet one, but we did have many more active participants. Unfortunately, many have either passed, or gone elsewhere.
As for attracting new participants, I don't know the solution. It is also a reflection of younger generations not having in interest. Many old organizations I have belonged to, with various special interests suffer the same phenomenon of dwindling membership...car clubs, railroad historical societies, ship cliubs, etc.
In the intercity bus industry, it is probably a reflection of the end of that business as we once knew it.
I find I now have to go to other sites to find more active participation in transportation history discussion.... |

To say I am both greatly humbled and pleased by your kind words is indeed an understatement; I do thank you, my friend!
As you of course already know, buses, streetcars, and anything else related to the mass transit operations of old have been a lifelong passion for me.
Mr. Linsky was indeed a "legend among legends"; he was a true gentleman, in every sense of the word, and his vast storehouse of knowledge regarding buses and bus operations STILL awes me today!
With lack of "new blood" coming into the hobby, plus the fact that too many older fellows are passing on, it is no wonder why our hobby is but a whisper of what once was.
Look at how the New York Chapter of the ERA (with its countless gantrips) has now withered away to almost nothing; streetcar museums are also having the same problem, with aging membership, lack of new membership, and financial issues.
And, THANKS TO YOU, my friend, for all of your highly-valuable input, regarding intercity buses, including your own wonderful recollections!
Again, I TRY to "keep things going" here as best I can.
Even the highly-knowledgeable posters on the "New York Buses" board seem to be posting only infrequently now, where they once posted several times daily.
Again, my friend, I TRY my best to keep things going along (as best I can) but NOTHING compares to mass participation in a given topic......still so much to learn and discover!
