More and more, the once-vast GREYHOUND empire is being eaten away until there is virtually nothing left of the greatness that once was.......... Sad

I checked their website and see that the downtown Phoenix Greyhound Station I was familiar with is gone. Now they have a "station" at the airport and "stops" elsewhere.

Cyberider:

Indeed it is nothing short of shameful how so few classic-era GREYHOUND terminals/stations exist today (the vast majority of those still standing no longer serve buses) Sad

60-odd years ago, GREYHOUND was indeed THE premier American long-distance bus company, a company that was both diverse and highly-respected.

Today, the GREYHOUND system is but a mere picked-over skeleton, less than a shell of what it once was. Sad

Sad........... Crying or Very sad

Where has it all gone?

Think of GREYHOUND's glittering and prominent presence at the 1964/1965 World's Fair.......the futuristic GREYHOUND Pavilion, sleek new Fishbowls, and the Jetson-esque "Glide-A-Ride".

Then, recall GREYHOUND in 1964.....STILL the undisputed King Of America's Highways.

Today in 2024, sixty-odd years into the future, not only has every trace of GREYHOUND's presence at the long-closed Fair vanished forever, but the company's once vast and intertwining bus routes that, 60 years ago, criss-crossed the country, have been whittled down to a mere shadow of what it once was.

No one (most especially those at GREYHOUND) could never have dreamed of what the future held.........

Something I thought I'd never say..........

I think it's about time to put GREYHOUND out of its misery and have all operations cease permanently.

IMHO, it's only a matter of time (IMHO) that this will happen, anyway. Sad

A total reversal of "from rags to riches"......... Crying or Very sad

Update.....

Just head that "Flxibus" (GREYHOUND's parent company) has just negotiated a lease extension that will keep the Chicago terminal open.......at least for the time being.

Now, let's see what the future holds.........
