The Museum of Bus Transportation will be holding its annual 'Spring Fling'
on Saturday, 6 June 2015.
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever. The museum's recently acquired PD-4501 Scenicruiser will be introduced. Word is that other Scenicruiser's may 'drop in' for a visit...

Hey TD:
I will be attending with a buddy. We are taking the MNYBA trip from just outside the PABT in NY.
The bus leaves at 8 AM sharp and I presume that this will also double as the lunch stop.
I will be wearing a green New York and Atlantic baseball cap. If you are going what will you wear so that we can meet up. You'll be the second B-T'er
that I've got a shot with. Mr. Linsky is the other.

I'll be driving from Queens at "Oh Dark Thirty", with a rest stop at Pburg, NJ at the Key City Diner on Route 22...(my annual tradition)
I'll probably arrive the museum at about 0900 or so, and also as usual, be wearing my white T-Shirt emblazoned with a PD-3751 "Silversides"...
It's the only day of the year that I get to wear it... |

If you've never been there before, you are in for a treat! And if you're making it a "family affair", the "Sweetest Place on Earth" (Hershey), has a whole lot to offer in addition to the bus and antique auto museum.... |

You missed a great show. The Metro NY Bus Assn. goes every two years. There were several buses visiting from the NJT group. Someone brought down an MC-6, Trailways brought down their traveling training bus. Its a coach bus with a driving simulator that they were allowing guests to try.
The museum, in the last two years, has acquired a PD-4501 and a Flx VL-100. The MOBT shares a building with the AACA. That group always rotates their exhibits. Last time they had an exhibit of Muscle Cars. This year they outdid themselves, by having an exhibition of Tuckers. Only 51 cars were produced, 47 still exist. The museum owns and displayed the 3
that they possess.
The Motor Bus Society had a table in the vendor area. The gentleman was happy to hear an update on our beloved Mr. L. |

Agreed!
To my eyes, the highlight was the visiting former Continental Trailways (Transcontinental Bus System - Central Lines or CCL) Silver Eagle model '05', fleet number 13542, resplendent in its original 'cream and crimson' livery.
It looked like an early seventies model, and was in amazingly original condition, in almost every detail, inside and out. The proud owner drove it all the way from his home in Larkspur, Colorado.
The mobile simulator bus belonged to Burlington Trailways. It was brought from its home in Burlington, Ia. by Matt Moore, Exec. VP - Operations, and son of founder Ron Moore, who originally operated Arrow Trailways in New Jersey, before selling that company, and starting Burlington.
I had a great time, and purchased several goodies from the vendor's table area. I bought some Mack and ACF-Brill builder's plates, and a Greyhound Post House china dish made by Syracuse China.
I did see you briefly when you arrived, but had to head home at that time.
The next big museum event will be the fall annual meeting, on Saturday, 31 October, when they are tentatively scheduled to receive journalist and former PBS anchor, Jim Lehrer's bus, presented by its owner. |

What a great day for a bus nut. I drove up from Baltimore not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised with the display. Also, great conversation with several MTA New York Bus operators who were more than willing to share their stories. Hope to see all again next year.

Ugh! Thanks for the reports from the event. Up to my eyes in something and could not get away. Another week and a half and the insanity will be over. |

Too bad....
If you can't make the fall event, at least remember to save the date for next year's Spring Fling...always the first Saturday in June.... |
