.....just heard that, as of 1PM, GREYHOUND is cancelling all service out of the PABT, due to weather conditions in outlying areas........

Hearing this, I'm now wondering how GREYHOUND (and other carriers) dealt with rough winter weather in years past, especially in areas that usually get hit hard with snow, such as Buffalo, the Great Lakes areas, and in the Midwest.

I can even see the hefty SILVERSIDES and SCENICRUISERS having difficulty in the worst winter weather...........

Back in my day, if the roads were open, we ran!
Only in the worst blizzards, when roads were closed, would we cancel trips.

As a consequence, we did at times have buses stuck, mostly due to the highway blocked by stuck cars.
So the abundance of caution, in canceling preemptively nowadays, probably at the orders of Company attorneys, is probably a good idea.

traildriver:

This about what I had figured; thanks! Wink

Nowadays, if all we have are flurries, you are already hearing about service disruptions, cancellations, etc. Razz

PETER PAN and VERMONT TRANSIT, I'm sure, also, have dealt with QUITE a few blizzards in their day......

"SNOWHOUND", circa-1955

Here's an interesting "ghostly" photo showing a SCENICRUISER on the NJ Turnpike....

This wintry accident took place in 2015 (Canada); note the trailer being hauled by the 'Hound.

Thankfully, no fatalities......

Imagine if GREYHOUND (north of the border!) ever operated these "snow buses" with 1950's-era WESTERN FLYER bodies? Shocked

Never saw the likes of these monsters before...... Shocked
