It's a MIRACLE, I TELL YOU! A MIRACLE!

The Mets FINALLY WON a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Recall, how, at the start of the season, the Amazins' were in the tank bIG TIME, and then, suddenly, they made a hot steamrollin' comeback, and were even dubbed "The Comeback Kids" by local sportscasters.

Recently (yet again) they have been playing QUITE poorly (I believe they only won four games this month); and, when the Mets finally DO win, it's usually only by the skin of their teeth.

Meanwhile, the "Bronx Bombers" have been (pretty much) riding high, clobbering opposing teams.

Then again, look at how poorly the "Bombers" did last season (ditto the Mets)

Geeze, for the massive millions of $$$$$ these "pro" players make each year, you would THINK that that alone would MOTIVE them to play a better game.

Now, let's see what transpires during the rest of the 2024 season........

The Mets weren't even on the scoreboard tonight (they got SLAMMED!), but the Yankees won (again)

Looks like the lackluster Amazins' are going to have another hapless, inane season........players AND management BOTH need to get their collective acts together.............FAST(!!) Evil or Very Mad

So pathetic it ain't even funny.............. Sad

Funny . . . I get the Daily News every Sunday, and have been noticing the performance of both teams (or in the Mets' case, lack thereof) in the standings section of the sports pages.

W.B.:

Sure looks like it's going to be another loooooooong (and insipid) season for the Mets, if their current, hapless shenanigans continue. Sad

Recall , long, long ago, when they were known as the "LOVEABLE losers"? Rolling Eyes

Geeze. Sad

On the flip side, a certain hockey maven (and die-hard subway/streetcar buff!) Stan Fischler must be quite the happy fellow, with the "Red Hot Rangers" heating up the ice, as of late! Wink

He often refers to hockey as 'Fire On Ice"; well, in the Mets case, there ain't even a SPARK from them out on the field......... Sad

I suppose it could be argued that the Mets', ahem, play matches the subway cars (and what passes for buses these days) taking fans to CitiField to what them do something faintly resembling playing ball?

But it's not just the Mets. That term was also used for years for the Cubs in "Shik-aga."

W.B.:

And what about all of those many years when those faithful "Steels" (aka "Brooklyn Battleships") and Triplexes of the "Bee-Em-Tee", and B&QT streetcars and trolleybuses transported untold thousands to the fabeled Ebbets Field, hallowed home of "Dem Bums", whose original name came from having to dodge the non-stop parade of Brooklyn trolleys? Haven't we been down this road a few times before? Rolling Eyes

Last night, a most familiar pattern evolved once again...........

The Yankees WON and the Mets LOST.

The Yankees are indeed riding high as of late, while the Mets are simply TANKING (they've only won perhaps four games this month) Sad

It's almost a given that the Mets will lose their next game these days. Sad

Anyone have a Ouji board handy, so we can get in touch with a certain Mr. Hodges? Rolling Eyes

C'mon, guys, let's REALLY play ball......and WIN, for a change!

The "Miracle Mets" moniker indeed aptly more than fits them these days:

"....when the Mets FINALLY win a game, it's a MIRACLE....." Shocked

Those "Battleships" in particular (and "Triplexes" come to think of it) were as solid as the Dodger teams of 1941-56, for sure. And transported people to and from the "Field" when they won their only World Series in Brooklyn in '55.

If any of these vintage cars could be compared to a baseball manager, how would it be done?

How many, I meant to ask, are now saying that they miss the Wilpons (prior Mets owners)?

And, keying into all this:
- The Yankees are in first place in the American League East;
- The Mets are in fourth place in the National League East.
Like what's been said . . . Rolling Eyes
