It indeed was still the era of the Brooklyn streetcar when this busy scene on Court Street was snapped about 1936; look closely in the lower left of the picture, and you will see the remains of the former third track that had been paved over......

A hundred PCC cars served Brooklyn well for twenty years. Pete Hamill's death had me reviewing the PCC routes near his childhood home at 378 Seventh Avenue, Park Slope, and past the bar he and his dad haunted, namely Farrell's at 215 Prospect Park West.
---
I was surprised to conclude that the Seventh Avenue PCC line did not visit Bartel Pritchard Square circle, but continued to 20th St and turned to the carbarn. How it then looped, I do not recall.
---
The McDonald Vanderbilt cars would have passed Farrell's.
---
Pete attended Holy Name School, now St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy. His funeral was at Holy Name church. The NY Daily News website includes the eulogy by his brother Denis 8/8/2020.
---
The Yelp reviews of Farrell's bar are not 100% laudatory, particularly regarding the treatment of women by some of the guys.
---
Some readers might find my posts about church enterprises on Prospect Park West of interest. Link HERE.

This unidentified PCC was snapped at Park Row, awaiting its next outbound run back to Brooklyn; the PCC design, indeed, was both classic and timeless! Wink

Joe:

Always appreciate your input and comments; always welcome!

One can only imagine today, what the Brooklyn transit scene might have been like, had postwar PCC's had been ordered and delivered.

These cars would have replaced all of the remaining "standard" cars, including the Peter Witts.

That the City ordered new trolley buses still makes me scratch my head today; the remaining trolley bus lines were all replaced by diesel buses in 1960, and the still fairly-new electric coaches were all scrapped.

I always thought it odd that no other city wanted them...... Sad
