As noted earlier here, many ex-PE cars were sold for further service in Mexico and in South America, as the "red Car" system was being whittled away, after WW2.

Here's an ex-PE car (still wearing PE wings) at Vera Cruz, in 1961; in 1961, the very last remnant of the once-vast PE system, the Long Beach line, was poised for extinction.........

Here's an excellent page on the Mexico City Metro system.

Note how clean the trains, stations, and tracks are compared to "Noo Yawk's" subway system! Shocked

The Metro utilizes both steel-wheeled and rubber-tired rolling stock (a number of excellent rolling stock photos are also on this page)

This a very interesting page, with many diagrams, maps, etc...........

Here you will find an outstanding collection of vintage photos depicting the vast variety of streetcars that once ran in Mexico City; many cars from US properties (both "standard" cars and PCC's) once operated in Mexico City for many years..............

This excellent, exhaustive page is rich with the history, present, and future of the Underground system(Subte) in Buenos Aires, which opened in 1913.

There are many historical and modern-era photos here, as well as photos showing the various types of rolling stock used over the course of many, many decades..........

Lima's metro system was built in fits and starts over the period of many years, with construction grinding to a complete halt, until political conditions allowed construction to resume..........

In 2001, the trolley buses of Valparaiso, Chile, had the distinction of being the oldest operating in South America.

These sturdy electric coaches were among the very last built by P-S, in 1952.

In 2001, these well-built, classic trolley buses had then been in daily service for almost 50 years.......

Trolleybuses also operated in Montevideo, Uruguay, until 1992.

At one time, well over 300 trolleybuses werre in operation on this system.

A number of these vehicles featured bodies by the iconic British company, "PARK ROYAL", which, many decades ago, also built the bodies of many of London Transport's buses and trolley buses......

Interesting......

Not only did many PACIFIC ELECTRIC streetcars and interurbans go on to spend more years in service after being sold to operations in Mexico and in South America, but also, a number of ex-PE buses (Old Looks) as well.

A number of them ran in Lima, Peru, for many years after being sold by PE; some ex-LAMC/MTA Old Looks also saw further service in Lima, after being retired from service in Los Angeles........
