I love the "painted on" advertising on this big (ex-Tampico) car! Very Happy

This long car had thirteen windows; the longest PSNJ deck roof cars also had thirteen windows (3500's/3600's).........

A timeless street scene in Mexico City, 1950........

This elderly Mexico City Tramways work motor would not have looked at all out of place on any American streetcar system of that era (again, note buses in the background!)

A number of ex-American Birneys also continued to clang, growl, and screech their way "south-of-the-border", long after such cars vanished from American systems (this car was an ex-El Paso unit)........

Here's another (ex-El Paso) work-worn Birney, still on the job.......

A veteran Vera Cruz Peter Witt is seen here, sporting a more "modern" paint scheme; again, note the buses in the background........

This big "EXPRESS" motor was still on the job, when this photo was taken.

PE once rostered a number of express cars; many US systems, early on, also used "express" motors".

In the later years of American traction systems, some companies still retained such equipment, for use as work motors/tool cars........

This Vera Cruz (ex-PE) car is poking its somewhat-battered nose through the elegant portals of the Vera Cruz system's carbarn........

Mexico City Tramways #820 indeed exuded a distinct air of "classic traction", when it was caught on camera at the Indianilla depot in 1950.

PSNJ once operated a fleet of similar railroad-roof cars; these were the "low" 3500's.........

Back in 1961, this ex-El Paso Birney was still doing the job it had been built for, many years earlier.

Note folding gate on the front platform, in place of a door.......

The "rugged-built-to-last" persona of long-ago American streetcars is more than evident here in this 1971 photo.

Back then, to see such a car here in the States, one would have had to visit a trolley museum.......... Wink

These sleek LRV's represented the "New Generation" of electric traction in Mexico City, as seen here in 1993 (these units remind of the old "Blue Line" cars in Los Angeles)

These handsome units, indeed, had a classic "Euro tram" look to them; this was, of course, quite a few years before LRV's began to resemble nothing more than giant, slithering, mutated, people-eating insects, or oversized caterpillars.......(!!) Shocked

These PCC's, seen in 1972, indeed look a bit work-worn; however, they still retained that classic "streamlined streetcar" look that was once so much a part of transit history in many cities for years........

This elderly deck-roof BRILL would have looked quite at home, running on virtually American streetcar system that was operating, way back in the early years of the last century........
