I don't know when NICE dropped the N19 east of Massapequa, but it has resulted in a substantial reduction of service. Remember that Utility Bus Corp in the 1950's and 1960's offered a through route from Freeport to Patchogue on Merrick Road and Montauk Highway. Fares were zoned. About the time of the MSBA takeover, the route went from Freeport to Babylon. Later, under "not-NICE" the 19 lost its segment east of Sunrise Mall. Recently, NICE eliminated the N19 east of Hicksville Road, Massapequa.
---
Making more inconvenience, many trips are designated 19X, via Sunrise Highway between Massapequa and Freeport with merely two bus stops. Merrick Road has many small businesses, and this new chop makes difficulties for workers to get to or from their jobs.
---
Only nine trips serve Merrick Road each direction.

Doesn't sound very "NICE," N4 Jamaica! Hope your destinations aren't along Merrick Road. |
