By the late 1960's, the decades-old reign of PSNJ was fast fleeting; after the 70's dawned, "TNJ" became "the new kid in town", with bus (and City Subway) operations now broken away from the long-established utility company.

Yet, even so, the "spirit" of PS lived on in many ways, for some years more.

The City Subway PCC's retained their old "PS" emblems until they were repainted into the new "Bicentennial" scheme (which I was not all that crazy about) and received "TNJ" emblems.

Several years after "TNJ" took the helm, it was still commonplace to see buses still wearing old "PS" insignias.

Some stations/terminals still displayed the old "PS" emblems as well.

It was almost like the still-formidable "spirit" of the late, great, PSNJ was NOT about to go down without a fight! Wink

Now, we're well into the 1970's, and it seems like "PSNJ" is still in charge of most of the State's buses, going by the following photos........

Fast-forward now to 1977; "Public Service" (bus operator) has now vanished into history; "TNJ" is now in charge, and the new Flex New Looks have replaced the last of PS's stalwart, Old Look suburbans.

These sleek buses arrived several years too late to wear the time-honored "PS" insignia.......

In 1980, even "TNJ" was poised for extinction, as the "NJT" era was dawning.

When "first generation" PSNJ Fishbowls such as this once-proud vehicle began to meet the scrapyard, it was a sign yet another piece of the once-vast PS empire was disappearing.......
