I don’t believe that photo is real…
I think someone ‘created’ it with Photoshop… |

You and me BOTH!
Something tells me that whoever PhotoShopped that one INDEED had a VERY overactive imagination, to say the LEAST!!!!!!
If that were a REAL bus, I only hope it had power steering!!!!!!!

Indianapolis.......what a magnificent spectacle for the bus enthusiasts of that long-ago time!
In the more distant past, of course, the huge shed echoed to the comings and goings of stately, majestic interurban cars......

In the late ‘60’s and early ’70’s, Greyhound was in their nice new terminal, but Trailways (Continental and Southeastern) were using the Head House from the Traction Terminal. The shed was gone, however… |

I had heard, many years ago, that when the old trainshed was taken down, it was removed in sections to some location where it was supposed to be eventually re-constructed as part of some historical exhibit..
I know THAT never happened......

"'Hound" diversity......
"BLUE RIDGE TRANSPORTATION", at one point, had been sold to EASTERN GREYHOUND LINES; buses included 1852-vintage 4509's, and saw service in EASTERN GREYHOUND's suburban routes.
Eventually, the buses were acquired by "88 TRANSIT" of Charleroi, PA.
The new operating outfit reflected that the buses ran along Pennsylvania Highway 88.
Interestingly, two GREYHOUND drivers acquired the routes in 1962.....

Thanks for the link!
It is always interesting to read of GREYHOUND suburban operations outside of California (the suburban network radiating out of 'Frisco, ons ago, always is what I think of first)
There is a nice photo in "OLD LOOK BUSES" (Luke) showing as single-door 4509, sporting the GREYHOUND running dog, but lettered for "CROWN COACH"
This outfit was based out of Joplin, and was once a busy long-distance operation with a trunk line south fro Kansas City.
Later on, "CROWN" operated suburban services to serve the growing areas south of Kansas City.
Only two Old Looks provided this service, both 4509's.
Oddly, there is nothing of GREYHOUND in the photo caption.
Further gleaning ("OLD LOOK BUSES")......
EASTERN CANADIAN GREYHOUND LINES once operated Old Looks on a suburban run out of London, using 4506 and 4515's.
ECG also operated all the Old Look transit buses in the Windsor and London areas; these routes were sold to a local transit operator around 1963/1864.

Like other carriers authorized to display the “greyhound” dog logo, Crown Coach was partially owned by Greyhound, and was in some thru pooled runs with them. Later, Crown Coach (not related to the Illinois “Crown Transit Lines”, was purchased by Jefferson Lines, including Greyhounds share… |

Great info; thanks!
How diverse GREYHOUND operations were, back in the day!
Regarding suburban operation, GREYHOUND's East Bay-area routes have always been well-covered by bus historians.
After the NWP abandoned East Bay electric train/ferryboat service in 1941, these suburban runs were, indeed, quite popular.
YELLOW Old Looks were the suburban fleet's backbone for years; in 1940, 84 YELLOW TD-4502's were delivered; later, 33 TD-3607's entered service.
Quite a few of the East Bay suburbanites, who had once traveled on the electric trains and ferryboats, longed for the days of the spacious electric trains (where there was always a seat to be found) and the high-capacity ferryboats, where one could choose to enjoy the open air during his voyage, if he had chosen.
When, long years later, finally GREYHOUND pulled out of the suburban business, yet another colorful facet of "Hound history" vanished forever.......

BTW:
Guessing that these Fishbowls were ex-GREYHOUND?
