Any of the Flx 4000's (TA buses, B.T.W.) ever see service on their five Manhattan routes? As for 5283, I presume that was a World's Fair service . . .

Actually that was the shuttle from the Hunterspoint Ave LIRR station to four stops along Third Avenue (39, 42, 47 and 51 Sts) that began in February 1965. I'm not sure how long it lasted but it was still running in October of that year.
Here's te timetable.

That shuttle did seem to be a forerunner to the express buses that began to spring up starting in the mid-'60's. As to that bus . . . looks like it originated out of 54th Street depot at the time.

I noticed in the early '80's - and may've been on some of them, myself - quite a few buses originally built for the TA plying certain MaBSTOA routes. Some of the Flx 4000's, as seen on that pic, weren't the only ones; I saw a few of the GMC 8800's (of the 1968 order of T6H-5305A's), especially within the 8829-8878 range with the "batwings" removed (one of which was in a pic now offered for sale on eBay, taken around 1982 and running the NB M101 route), some of the 8000's from the 1966-67 order, and a few from the early 1971 4300-4499 set also gone over to the MaBSTOA side. I suppose it was a stretch if any of the remaining Flx's from the 1964 and '65 orders would have turned up on a MaBSTOA route or two?
