This has to be the worst year in my 39 years driving that OTR companies have had attracting and retaining drivers. |

I agree it seems to be getting harder and harder....
The biggest problem is probably the changing work ethic of the younger generation, who just don't want to dedicate themselves to the very challenging working conditions of being an over-the-road driver, be it bus or truck.
Another challenge is competing against the salaries and benefits offered by public transit operations that don't have to rely on farebox revenues to pay their expenses. We lose many driver's to the MTA as soon as they get called.... |
