Had the long awaited opportunity to finally see the AMAZING collection of my friend NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629. This is just a small part of his collection that also includes trains, trucks, boats, cars -- you name it, if it's related to transportation, it's in his collection. Here are a few he asked me to post ---

George:
I am QUITE honored by you posting these great photos that just give a "tease" of my transportation collection (sure wish the TRAILWAYS and NY bus photos came out!)
Regardless, THANK YOU for allowing some of my treasures to be shared here with my Forum brothers!
Also greatly enjoyed your visit last week!
"NYO"
Note: George will be also posting a few additional photos of my "goodies" as soon as he can...... |

NYO 2629 I knew from our days on the old BTC.NET that you had a great collection of streetcars but your collection of buses is quite impressive. Many of the items in your collection I have let slip through my hands over the years. You are the man.

John:
GREATLY APPRECIATE the kind words, my friend....thank you!
My vintage bus collection goes far beyond what you see here; my friend George will post a few more photos (including some of my rail collection) ASAP.
My lifetime love of classic transit vehicles, feel, truly manifests itself in my collection.....indeed, it is a labor of love!
Again, thanks for your kind comments.......

As the kids would tease "nah, nah, nah I got someone you don't have in the picture of Greyhounds".. In my collection is the tin-plate PD-41xx.
BTW its not for sale or trade.

Very nice, indeed, NYO!
Do you have any of those very large scale models that the Company used to display in terminal's and agencies? |

From what modeler Dave Dearstyne once told me, I would doubt many still exist. I saw one up for sale many years ago on E-bay with a large squiggly crack running the length of the roof. He said that the crack developed because there was no cross-bracing in the hollow shell and the expansion and contraction from the sun from being in the windows.
I would guess once the cracks appeared the units were tossed and not saved. |

I think they were made of plaster-of-paris, or maybe clay or something like that....so no surprise they were fragile.... |

In that same e-mail Dave told me that it took at least a gallon of paint to paint that model properly. Not a project to take on if the bus isn't in perfect condition. Repairing cracks will never come out correctly |
