Was #750-799 and #925-999 former NYCT units or were they brought new by Long Island bus? I know that the 1981 group of Metros (#1000-1034) were brought brand new. |

According to OMOT the 870 were brought new by MSBA. |

1000-1033 were 1984 Metros. 750-799/925-999 were 1981 870s.
MSBA got hand-me-down GM and Flxible New Looks and RTSes from NYCTA/MaBSTOA, but not Grummans. |

No. NYCTA/MaBSTOA's Grummans went back to Grumman, where they were remanufactured and resold to NJ Transit, Queen City Metro in Cincinnati, PVTA in Springfield, MA, and elsewhere. |

The NYCDOT private operators received new 870's immediately after the NYCTA/MaBSTOA order was built. All of the companies operating local routes received buses - Triboro Coach, Green Bus Lines, Jamaica Bus, Queens Transit and Steinway Transit. Avenue B & E. Broadway Transit was to receive 13 870's also but they went out of business before the buses were delivered and the coaches were delivered to NYCTA instead. |

Oh, because I noticed that most of them had the hoodlum lamps and I just assumed they were former NYCTA units. |
