From my source, GBL 5895, 5896 and 5897, 1999 Orion V's (one door), are in service for NYPD. 5894 is still at ECH.

If you're talking about City RTS's, I did take the attachment myself in Coney Island, Brooklyn about three years ago.

A front end shot with the numbers that I also took seems to be misfiled but when I find it I'll post it as well.

Enjoy,

Mr. 'L'

obregonmichael,

There must be a department in the MTA that handles the final dispositions of its equipment.

As a rule, any buses that might be in good enough shape for sale and are owned by a political subdivision such as New York City are usually sold at auction and must be advertised as such in public notices.

So watch the papers and the MTA's websites where you might pick up the information.

Regards,

Mr. 'L'

Actually it will depend on who sells the bus. NYCT and MTA Bus go a few different ways, and is determined by NYCT. NYPD would go through Department of Citywide Administration Services auction.

Was NYPD #3301 "Big Ken" (ex-Triboro Coach 743) saved? I think it went to one of the Borough Park express bus companies after NYPD retired it.

DCAS Auto Auction, now administered by Copart. I've heard they're a hassle to deal with but have no personal experience.

There are two Gilligs in the current auction list (which is today) but they're not showing up on the Copart website. Anyone near Brookhaven want to go see what they are? Very Happy

Love to but can't, the clock has me on a leash! DCAS is using Co part, now it makes sense why some New Flyer 800's went through there.

It's not. Serial numbers are J1082256 and P1085165. The last MSBA serial was J1082231.
