There are at least five (5) "alternative" fuel types that currently are used for transit buses (and perhaps school buses in certain locations) in lieu of conventional diesel, including methanol, ethanol, LPG, CNG, and LNG. (This tally does not include either gasoline or biodiesel, nor does it include hydrogen fuel cells.)
