Did Sunrise Coach have two Prevosts numbered 300-301?
The first Prevosts operated by Sunrise were #'s 300 & 301. The OTR coach fleet from 1980 until 2006 was almost exclusively Prevosts. From # 300 thru # 345... (only #'s 305 & 306 were not Prevosts, they were MANN coaches, imported from Germany).

Ok, thanks Jimbo. I was wondering because I had only found records for #300-301 and they were listed as going to Sunrise Buses Inc, and I wasn't totally sure if they meant Sunrise Coach.

I could be very wrong but I seem to think that 301 and 302had split back windows

Prevosts #'s 300-304, #'s 307-323 (LeMirage and LeMirage XL models) had a paint scheme that simulated rear windows. The simulated painted windows were also seen on Prevosts operated by Birnie Coach (upstate NY) and possibly Helfreich (NJ) if my memory is correct. I remember seeing some Prevosts in Canada that did have two rear glass windows (no lavatory) or one rear glass window w/ a paint scheme simulating one window where the lavatory was.

Just a thought to the webmaster or S-60 as the originator of this thread. It might be easier on the eyes if this thread was split between Transit and Suburban/OTR coaches so that there isn't so much scrolling.

Also there should be provision for Winston Coach, Classic Coach and of course Long Island Airport Limosine Service (LIALS).

I remember my son once going with a youth group to Great Adventure on a company called "Coach America". From what I remember of that bus as it smoked its way south on Elwood Road, I think the Chinatown buses are Mercedes compared to that POS.

Speaking of Long Island Airport Limosine Service (LIALS), they and Coram Bus Service got into a legal suit back in the 70's over a bus route that LIALS wanted to run going from SUNY Stony Brook to Smith Haven Mall VIA Conventry Mall (Corner of Stony Brook Road an NYS 347) and Waldbaums supermarket. Coram said that the route would hurt their route which went from Port Jefferson to Smith Haven Mall VIA Stony Brook Railroad Station and St. James. I believe the LIALS route lasted a year or two, but I'm not sure when the two routes were made into the current S60.

If you want me to make a new thread for the vintage coach buses, I will. I wasn't sure if the vintage transit and coach buses belonged on the same list, thats why I basically left it to everyone else to decide.

Obviously I said yes. Let's see what the others say. I will go along with the majority vote.

If, when you're talking about 'Coach Buses', you actually mean 'Parlor Cars' or the group of buses that GM referred to as PD's such as the 4501's, 4104's and the like, then I would say that creating a thread specifically for them is a great idea.

Long Island has a rich history in the OTR 'Parlor' business as can be seen below in beautiful examples from Schenck Tours and Bee Line's Long Island Tours.

So my vote would be yes!

Mac,

Those CHACE RT50s....were those buses? I mean did they kind of look like a Flxible New Look but in a 30ft model. If so, then I DAMN sure remember those buses. I'm surprised Hampton Jitney had that amount.

Mac,

Those CHACE RT50s....were those buses? I mean did they kind of look like a Flxible New Look but in a 30ft model. If so, then I DAMN sure remember those buses. I'm surprised Hampton Jitney had that amount.

Here is the only picture I could find Via Google
