The latest that I have heard on this ongoing soap opera concerning the Rochester bus terminal for Greyhound and Trailways is that a temporary facility is going to be constructed right near the Amtrak station on Central Avenue, which I think will facilitate train to bus or bus to train connections rather nicely due to the fact that both will be within walking distance of each other. If those morons who placed the proposed permanent facility just off Main Street really wanted a true intermodal terminal, they would have place Amtrak and the buses in the same station. When are the Rochester City fathers going to get their heads out of thei rears? If anyone seems to have any brains here, it is the folks at Trailways and Greyhound in this case. Evidently the original location of the proposed Rochester Bus Terminal was Bill Nojay's doing and he was the head of RTS at the time this idea was conceived. Such waste! Utica's Union Station doubles as a bus terminal, and so does Springfield,MA's train station, why not Rochester? Go figure.

Dieseljim -

Well, at least you look a bit ahead in the game!

Some time back, City of Baltimore had the rare opportunity to have AMTK - GL - TWYS - Other, all at one common site. That is, some imaginative,
though obvious, use of site at AMTK (earlier PRR) Station. Instead, headed by a great deal of bad mouth by a myopic and abrasive Mayor, GL -
TWYS banished to a site south of center city, and three miles or so removed from AMTK site.

Oh, use present city transit to transfer between the two sites? The present transit routing is vague, at best, and likely more an "inside secret"
known near entirely to locals. Taxis? Yeah, I guess they might do...

So, for all the blather about intermodal this, that and the other thing, it surely doesn't get much respect in these parts. Sure makes it difficult for
Hypothetical Harry, who would like to travel: Harrisburg - GL/TWYS - BAL - AMTK - Rocky Mount, NC! Or, endless other city pairs, too...

Last I heard, Greyhound and Trailways are to vacate the Midtown terminal in August so the demolition of Midtown Plaza can begin. Until then, it is business as usual for both Greyhound and TRailways.

Latest I have heard was that the old Greyhound terminal at 320 Andrews Street is to be torn down and a temporary f acilty for the use of Greyhound and Trailways buses erected in its place once the carriers receive their eviction notices. Frankly, this soap opera is becoming a bit ridiculus. It's another case of "If it ain't broke LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE being disregarded. All of Midtown's buildings are structurally sound and why tear them down for a corporate headquarters when the existing tower could do the job? One more example of half assed planning by City of Rochester,NY.
