W.B.:

The double-ended "8000s" dated way back to the "olden days",putting in several decades of solid, reliable service.

The "Oddballs", on the other hand.....well........ Rolling Eyes

Yeah. And didn't the "Pea-See-See's," in terms of when finally retired, outlast those "Oddballs"? (Of which, at least, they weren't propane as "Shik-aga's" were, yet that city's bunch, however hated they were by bus drivers, lasted longer. Go figure.)

W.B.:

I had no idea that these "Oddballs" even existed, until I saw one in Manhattan (during my senior class trip)in 1974; this bus was being used by a dry cleaners to transport cleaned and pressed clothing, hanging from the overhead handhold stanchions! Shocked

"Pee-Es" certainly had no interest in the "Oddballs"; then again, neither dis the vast majority of companies here in "Joisey".

SOMERSET operated a small number of suburban "FAGEOLINERS".

I know "Oddballs" once operated in Atlantic City.

"Shik-aga", on the other hand, was totally enamored with them, despite the fact that they were not popular with "See-Tee-Yay" drivers, nor with passengers........... Rolling Eyes

If the 'Q's' are running (as they are; the lead looks like 1629A), that second photo should've been up to 1969, no?

As to the first one, I'm reminded of the "Neighborhood Trolley" of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.

W.B,"

Recall, that enough "Qs" were still on hand for awhile,to run a solid train for ERA/NRHS fantrips, after "The 'Moit'"closed in 1969.

If, indeed, this photo was taken in 1969, we are seeing "Kramdens"that were retired far too soon, IMHO.

Hate to nutpick, but "Mr Rogers" Neighborhood Trolley was an OPEN car of the single-truck variety........ Wink

Didn't TARS and New York Railways have their version of that "open" example?

Notice, the producers of that show didn't model the "Neighborhood Trolley" after the more modern "PCC" types. Wink

W.B.:

Here is an example of one of TARS "Neighborhood Trolley"; you can see the "family resemblence" to the charming little car that ince ran through a "soitan" little neighborhood...... Wink
