The "Em-Ems"("The Miserable Mets)" are now suffering from a toxic combination of poor management, inept players, and a malicious "coyce" that just ain't leaving them alone (NO happy Mets fans aboard the #7 trains.....again)
With each fresh victory, the "AYF" brigade are further sharpening their fangs, as their swollen heads grow to even bigger proportions); I SHUDDER to think what the few "Em-Em" fans down on "The Street" (where Your's Truly once "woiked") must be enduring at the hands of the dominant "AYF" contingent.....CANNOT be pretty, I'm sure.
The formerly-unstoppable 'Kan-ikker-bockers" suddenly went into "BIE" mode on Monday;that, and a "jinx" they obviously got his with on that same night.....well,mode let's just say that the Spurs fans must now be loving "sweet revenge", as the "animated Globetrotterse." have obviously been denied access to "The Garden" again.
The collective mood at all the Knicks' ''watch parties" about town must be anything but jovial, right now......

The "animated Globetrotters" must've somehow slipped through the perimeter of "securitity," as "doze Ka-nicker-bockers" won in a "squeaker." It's now three games to one. |

W.N.:
Needless to say, many fans were leaving the watch parties early on, figuring that the "Kan-ikker-bckers were TOAST........WHO could have predicted how the night would end?

Meanwhile, the "Boulevardiers from da Bronx" are off tonight, thus combined with the Mets' win truly stymied the thoroughly obnoxious "AYF" brigade.
They remind me of a cat I once had who was totally psycho. Any time a dachshund with a heart condition visited, the cat gave a glaring look, wanting to do physical harm but kept from doing so for numerous reasons, basically saying, "You smell like a dog!" "AYF's" are almost like that when the Mets win, or a day when the Mets win and the "Boulevardiers" lose. |

W.B.:
Good analogy!
Now............just imagine, if you will, a "classic-era" baseball-themed Warner Brother's cartoon, where one team was all cats, and the other all dogs; the Mets and the "Boulevardiers" in an animated, fierce tooth-and-nail 'Subway Series"?

Further:
The 1932 "Aesop's Fables" cartoon, "THE BALL GAME (with an all-insect cast!) features what is supposedly the first animated caricture of "The Bambino" (great spoof!)
Overloaded trolleys are also seen, carrying crowds of fans to the ballpark!)

Which reminds me, the original Stadium was only travelable on the "soiface" by streetcar in Ruth's time (and for that matter, Gehrig's). Not until DiMaggio's career was nearly over when buses began travelling there. Mantle was likely the "foist" "all-bus" Yankee. Yogi joined as they were transitioning. |

An interesting photo from 1963; when this timeless photo was snapped, the venerable "Lo-Vs" were then in their twilight on the IRT "main lines":also, the original "House That Ruth Built" was still welcoming the faithful..........

Meanwhile, as the Mets' game has been delayed a bit due to the rains earlier, and "doze Boulevardiers from da Bronx" are out in "Ta-RON-to," WABC-TV Eyewitness News anchor Bill Ritter will no longer be doing any "Allriiiiise" impressions anymore, as he has announced his intention to leave the 6 P.M. newscast after being diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. He had already left the 5 and 11 P.M. newscasts last year. His on-air partnership with Liz Cho (begun in 2003) exceeded WABC's prior anchor team longevity of Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel (1970-86) - and second to WNBC-TV's Chuck Scarborough and Sue Simmons (1980-2012). His partnership with Sade Baderinwa on the 11 and 5 P.M. newscasts, started in 2014, was the longest at the 11 P.M. hour.
I remember, not long after Mr. Beutel retired from WABC in 2003 (two years after leaving the anchor desk there, which was how Mr. Ritter became the face and voice of the news), his being diagnosed with Lewy body dementia from which he would later pass away in 2006.

W.B.:
Really sad to hear about Bill Ritter; I THOUGHT that i was not seeing him around, as much as I once did.
A congenial gentleman, indeed, personable, down-to-earth, and ALWAYS likeable and HONEST (a rarity, nowadays)
I watched Biill's Sunday Morning "UP CLOSE" for the past few years each week, but stopped watching (I was getting some sort of a "gut" feeling about Bill that I wasn't comfortable with)
I was ALWAYS a great fan of his; again, thank you for alerting me tothis this sad news.....going to miss him, the LAST "classic era" Eyewitness News" anchor (one that often mentioned he took the "Eye-Are-Tee"to work keach day.....again, a VERY down-to-earth fellow.....one of a quickly-vanishing breed, for certain....

1963...........
The last full year of the ancient, iconic "Lo-Vs" would be running on the main lines (in dwindling numbers); no longer would these classic, stalwart cars becarrying crowds of "Boulevardier" fans to and from the games at the original Yankee Stadium,.................

"Noo Yawk" baseball "nooze" for Friday (early edition)....
As I type these words ,the Mets look like they might win TWO straight games, while the "Boulevardiers From Da Bronx"lost........(!!)
"NYO"
UPDATE:
The Mets have now won TWO games in a row.....odd, indeed, when it's the METS who WIN, and NOT the swell-headed "Boulevardiers".....(!!)
