Seen sometime in the 1950's at its company facility and readying for a charter assignment is fleet # 1103 - A 1949 White Motor Company Model 1136 and one of twenty numbered from 1101 to 1120 operating for the Harrisburg Railways Company of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The model 1136, introduced in 1949 and powered by White's then new 280TA 504 cubic inch 180 hp six cylinder engine mounted under floor amidships coupled to a 'Hydro-Torque' automatic transmission, was basically a refreshment of its pre war 786 predecessor with only an updated front clip being obvious to observers.
Sales of the new 36 passenger model were dismal at best with only another eighty delivered to Tranvias de Bogota (Columbia) and thirty in special suburban configuration to Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's 'Train Connection' service before production was ended in 1951.
