|
|
I was at Eastchester today and found some interesting things there. 4227, 1159, 1191 (ATTN: Adam Moreira and others who thought 1191 was still in service), 1199, 5865, 4242, and 4243 are all sitting there without fareboxes so we can deduce from this that the only GMCs in service must be 1162 and 4298. Also I saw 1156 and 5839 right next to each other, quite a funny sight since I have recordings of both buses and they happened to be there right next to each other.
I saw some MCI D-series from Staten Island there as well as 3005 from Yonkers and some TMC repowers with MTA Bus decals. Those buses were in an area separate from the ex-NYCDOT buses, must be in for maintenance. 7414 was also in that area. 1171 is also there (not in that same area as 7414 and the aforementioned D-series buses though), kind of a surprise to me that there was still an ex-JBi Classic there.
5882, 5885, and 5887 are there representing the ex-GBL Classics. 1855, an ex-TCC or GBL/NYCT 1980s GMC RTS, is there and apparently it has soft MTA-style seats, I wonder why.
Now for my homies, the ex-LLE Classics. I spotted 7829, 7868 (the fastest of them all, thank God it's still there so it's still purchasable), 7888, 7897-7899, 7902, 7903. Also to my surprise 7904 and 7905 were there, I don't get that since they were on the reserve fleet at Yonkers. Must've just come in for repairs.
Now for my question about the bidding for the buses: Is there going to be another round of bidding for the buses, or is everything, even what's still in ECH, going to NIMCO? Please tell me there will be another round of bidding, thanks. And if you have comments on my observations, please post. Thanks. |

The other day, I saw a legal notice in the NY Post in reference to RTS and MCI buses for sale at Eastchester. Any body can bid. Individuals, other bus companies, movie companies, scrap dealers, etc. |

I remember seeing 4298 at EC back on 3-25-07 leaving 1162 as the ONLY GMC RTS left in service. |

7904-5 are scrap/sale like the rest of the buses there. Sorry to say, the best stuff is gone. Most of what is there now has mechanical or structural issues. You probably will be better off going to NIMCO for one of the classics they got in the last auction, if they are not scrapped yet. |

Are the lift-equipped former NYBS Classics being sold as well? |

Yes. Most of them are gone already.
7414 is the only one being kept for training use. |

What a painful sight. How could you even be joking about that, Mark (j/p). But I'm sure 7868 will at least survive until summer. At least one Liberty bus besides 3006 (museum bus) WILL be saved. |

7868 will at least survive until summer? I guess this means your bidding on it? You now know what the fate of 7868 is if NIMCO gets it! |

A few fishbowls were scrapped. Most are there. They have sat too long. They will be gone soon. At least we have 1481 and 1502.
