We still have 38 of these 1994 units running in Louisville. Haven't been able to afford to replace them -- although we're looking to do so this year and next if the funny money from Washington actually gets here.
All but a handful of these units have been repainted from their as-delivered livery into the more current scheme, and although slow -- especially with the a/c on -- these units soldier on every day and look pretty good for being 15 years old.
Details: DD50 engines -- lots of noise and vibration, no power -- Allison V731 trannies; part of a 60-bus order that was never finished.
First shot cannot be replicated because we no longer serve this layover at Capitol Hills in Jeffersonville, IN.
Second shot is a wrapped unit at the 32nd & Portland bus loop where three routes congregate: 12, 27 and 43. It is the only bus loop left in the system...
Third shot is recently-repainted 835, shown on 5th Street getting ready to turn onto Market Street heading out to the suburbs on an express route.

Thanks for posting. Those Flxibles look pretty good. Interesting to hear that they're slow. WMATA and PATransit also has some Metro-Es with the same DD S50/Allison V731 powertrain, but they're anything but slow. The PAT units are quite powerful as they need it for those steep hills. They run pretty fast on the highway too. The WMATA buses are definitely showing their age, but continue to roam the streets.

Thanks to all for posting these great photos.
The Flxibles were always good lookers, and can still hold their own with anything the nebbies can through at them!
I hope they hang in for a long time to come.

A little trivia about the last bunch of Metros that went to PAT -- they were assembled by NOVA down in Cimarron, NM!
I didn't know this until it was revealed on the AMCAP forum a few months back.
