Agreed! 
One of the rarest 1950s/early 1960s battery operated tin diesel engines I have is one (about 16"long! that was clearly pattened after a "C-Liner"; it is lettered:
"NEW DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE"and is a VERY impressive piece! 
It's been in my collection for many, many years, now.....

| Sounds like a rare one, indeed. I have a small collection of HO PE interurban cars that I purchased in the 70's. Before that, I had, and still have, a Tyco 0-4-0 steam switcher that my Dad gave me in the early 60's. Other than that, I picked up a couple of sets of R-17 subway cars about 15 years ago. Ran them all at about that time and then put them away again where they remain to this day, |

The last time I rode the vintage "R-17s" was in the mid-80s, when those remaining in service were being used on the TSQ-GC shuttle.......LOVED those cars!
I also have an "R-17" set displayed, that I purchased about 20 years ago, that I never ran (but they STILL make NICE display pieces!()
A VERY rare tin toy loco I have is a (drum roll, please!) tin "GG-1"!!!!!
It dates to about 1960, and is BIG (about "G" scale size!)
VERY authentic detailing!!!!!!!!!
I bought mine off of eBay about 20 years ago for $75 (a preey high price for my budget, but I HAD to have it!
And, do you know, I've NEVER seen another for sale! (I DID see one on display one Christmas before I retired, in a bank window near where I worked in Lower Manhattan) along with other vintage toys.......NEVER thought I'd ever have one of my own! the engine even features pantographs that raise and lower!)
It is indeed the STAR of my modest "GG-1" collection!)

"Camels" on Staten Island............
The B&O operated a variety of steamers on Staten I sland (SIRT); until passenger service was electrified in 1925, "Came;s" were commonly used on the "rapid transit" trains.
Though no info is given here; I suspect this photo was taken at St. George during WW2, showing a troop train bound for the "deep water"piers at Stapleton and Clifton.
Note the old wooden B&O coaches behind the "Camel"; also, the "ME-s".
This terminal perished in a massive blaze in 1946............

This photo (taken about 1948) was taken near the location of the WW2 photo; construction for the new terminal was then in the early stages.
The single-car "ME-1" train was most likely a South Beach local; the tower seen here was replaced by a newer one by 1951, under cover of the new bus approach ramps.
The ferry slips in the background were used by the 69th Street Ferry (which I clearly remember) which shut down in late 1964......................

Awhile back in this topic, I'd mentioned a certain circa-1980 fantrip on the former EL, using ex-PRSL RDCs, carrying "LACKAWANNA" heralds (ironic that the DL&W never rostered these versatile cars!)
Anyway, I did some research, and came across this photo from 1980..........

Indeed!
AFAIK, these were the last RDCs to operate in northern New Jersey; lwhen ConRail abandoned the old CNJ "Scoot" shuttle (Bayonne-Cranford) iin 1978, ex-PRSL cars were being used.....all of the ex-CNJ cars had already been sidelined.....
