It is also interesting that,in the late 1960s, the "Tee-Yay" sold several "Ktamdens" tp Jersey City-based "LAFAYETTE & GREENVIKLLE".

Being still quite young for an Old Look, I still think of either "L&G" and NHBL picking up a few of the distinctive 5106 from t he MTA.

These buses still had a number of good years left in them.....................

Had it not been for prohibitions in place against 102" wide buses that were in the books up to 1959 (coincidentally, the year the very first "Jetsons" showed up in "Noo Yawk"), they may well have. After all, the TDH-5105's were prevalent in other cities in this time period . . .

W.B.:

THAT would have been interesting, indeed! Very Happy

Awhile ago, I'd mentioned that I thought odd that the "Tee-Yay"never rostered 4512s, especially that they they were quite popular with many companies across the country, at the time.............

By the time the 35' 4512's came out, FACL, 'Soiface' and the 'Tee-Yay' had already graduated to the 40' 5106's.

Interesting that Green Bus Lines was the only one to order the TDH-4512. They had 15 that came in 1954. They already had TDH-5104 and would not receive the TDH-5106 till March 1959.

Green also had TD-4506, TDH-4507, and TDH-4509.

Bee Line in Nassau County was the only other operator in the NYC area that had the TDH-4512.

MaBSTOA 15:

Thanks for this info; I find this odd, as, from what I've read on the popular 4512s, you MIGHT think that they wopuld hve been "big sellers" in "Noo Yawk".

I've read tht Cleveland once rostered a lare number of 4512s............

Also......

After the War, PSNJ ordered a large number of 4509s; these teliable buses came in single-door and rear door versions.

Many of these buses lasted through the 1960s snd into the1970s.

I remember them well, in much younger years.........

Fishbowl rear window configurations.............

Were there more "Tee-Yay" Fishbowls with three-piece rear windows, or were there more that had a four piece rear window?

Only those up to the 1963 set (3601-3950) started out 3-piece. " 'stoa," however, kept up right to the 1964-65 order (5201-5515). Many in all (including the "Jetsons") had retroactively been converted to 4-piece. The 1964 "Tee-Yay" "Dangerfield" set (5001-5165) was the only one of Flxible's to start-out 3-piece in the back.

It was with the 1965-66 orders (Fishbowls 6401-6900 for " 'stoa," "Dangerfields" 5601-5790 for the "Tee-Yay") and afterward, that all new buses came from the factory with 4-piece rear windows.

This may have been touched upon awhile back, either here or in another topic..........

When the last "Soiface"/FACL Fishhbowls were retired, what bus order replaced them?

Were these Fishbowls or "Dangerfields"?

Appreciate info, as always.......

Oh, the last "Soiface"/FACL Fishbowls were replaced at Kingsbridge depot with . . . the very last Fishbowls ever ordered by the "Em-Tee-Yay" (T6H-5309A, numbered 4860-4919). Those were among the buses assigned to the then-new Bx55 line that was created upon the demise of the "Toid Aven-yah" el. This is why there are those who say those buses were ordered to replace the said el. But that the last "Jetsons" inherited by " 'stoa" were retired thereafter . . .

The very "foist" post-1973 " 'stoa" "Dangerfields" ordered (7300-7361) were all assigned to Hudson depot in Manhattan, later on joined by the last seven of the 1970 order (4721-4727, relocated from Kingsbridge).
