Which does one perfer?

Would you prefer This bus coming every 5 mins?



OR

This bus coming every 30 mins



It seems the 2 most important factors to users of buses have been over looked so greatly in Melbourne.

1. Frequency of buses per hour.
2. Operation hours of the bus service.

Think about this from the passengers view rather than the bus operators view. If it costs so much to buy 1 new aircon bus where as you could purchase 4 second hand buses and provide 4 times more service for the cost of one new bus. It makes more sense to use the older buses as you can increase revenue per bus as high frequency bus services have been proven worldwide to attract more passengers per bus than low frequency buses no matter the quality of the buses.

Your thinking is completely sound, of course.

Surely, it must be widely understood Stateside. It is happily avoided, because of pronounced related, higher platform (labor). Then,
in an amazing leap of logic, silly arguments for new projects wherein it is stated riders prefer rail to bus. A new rail project is, therefore,
essential! Is that to be believed at all, if the shiny, new rail cars are on long headways? It is all nonsense.

In the US, historical record of a large transit management firm. It conclusively demonstrated that when things were done its way,
with what it believed an optimal sized bus (in its case, a 36 to 45 seat Diesel), service could be offered on frequent headways. The
firm had their years when it simply coined net profits...

BTW. In your first photo, it reminds of a fairly commonplace, small Toyota, which had much practical use on numerous transit applications.
