Given this TOTALLY unexpected "off-the-wall" turnaround, I cannot help but recall the long-ago days when Your's Truly "woiked" down on the "Street", and the Yankee fan arrogance was so thick you could cut it with a knife (man, they HAVE to be gloating tonight, for sure)

Mets fans, as I've already related, pretty much were "closeted", and with good reason.

Now.....as to "El-Yay"........they had been TROUNCING the Yankees out on their "home toif", and now we have a TOTAL turnaround..........will the Dodgers be "out for blood" back in "El-Yay", when they take on the "Bombers"?

For sure, I think that, tonight, the combined forces of "Uncle Hoiman" and "The Cap'n" was what "woiked the magic" for the Yankees tonight.

Now.....let's see what transpires out in "El-Ay"...........

Alas, the "Lads" ended up trouncing the "Bombers" in a squeaker to take the Fall Classic, I noticed. So yeah, in the end, the Mets, in the "En-El-See-Ess," ended up being a bit more formidable in comparison. So the Dodgers a.k.a. the "Grunions" ended up taking the Series 4 games to 1. And made mince meat of BOTH "Noo Yawk" teams in the process.

It also begs the question of who would have been the Series winner, and in how many games, had the Mets managed to prevail against the Dodgers. Given how the "cardboard cutout" "tin men" / "mice" of the YINO's ("Yankees" in name only) performed therein - plus their own sweep of subway series in the regular season.

Last night, the last I "hoid", it looked as though the "New York Grummans" (aka "tin men"/"mice") were on to victory in the "Woild Series"; in fact, one premature online news story HAD them as winning! Shocked

Imagine my surprise this AM, when I turned on 1010 WINS, and heard that "El-Ay" became the Series champions, and the "Bombin' Bombers" ("YINOS") blew a 5-zip lead and UTTERLLY disgraced themselves! (like they didn't do that enough, the past two seasons!) :shock

Talk about shameless!: Evil or Very Mad

When I heard the report this morning, I was like, "DUH!" Shocked

Well, so much for the combined efforts of "The Cap'n" and "Uncle Hoiman"! Rolling Eyes

The mood HAD to have been ugly last night, aboard the "4" and "D" trains, for "soitan". Evil or Very Mad

I'm STILL like "WHAT?!?" Shocked

Well, as the "Dodgers" were originally from Brooklyn, could this have been a case where Duke, Jackie, Pee-Wee, and the rest of the "Lords of Flatbush" reached down from that "Great Bullpen In The Sky", and NAILED the team who were, until 1957, their arch enemies? Rolling Eyes

Odd that, over the weekend, I came across that 1981 Dodgers World Series LP, that I hadn't seen in years......a "sign", perhaps? Rolling Eyes

Guess all the "NY GRUMMANS" brag, bluster, and arrogance came to naught, with the final result making Moe, Larry, and Curly look like brain surgeons by comparison.......yep, the "Coise of Flatbush", for certain............. Wink

"Foither".....

From what I'm hearing, "YINO"/"NY GRUMMAN" fans are STILL in a state of shock, this "oily" AM.........talk about being BLINDSIDED!! Shocked

Ahhh, for the "Noo Yawk IRON Men" of yesterday...........(!!)

"NYO"

(on the Eyewitness News team [7], I know that diehard "Bombers" fans anchor Bill Ritter and weatherman Lee Goldberg are NOT "happy campers" this morning!)

Since moving to "El-Lay" in 1958, the Dodgers won three World Championships against the Yankees, including this year (1963, 1981, 2024). The "Bombers" only won two such matchups (1977, 1978).

Also sounds like an omen if, G-d forbid, both the 4 and D lines' trackage are converted to "See-Bee-Tee-See." Like I said, though the "Lads" made mince meat of both "Noo Yawk" teams, the Mets had more fight in their DNA than the "YINO's."

Just thought of this..........

Only a few weeks ago, "YINO"/"NY GRUMMANS" fans were gloating big-time over the fact that the lowly Mets were OUT, regarding the "Woild Series", but THEIR team was on to bigger and better things..........guess now the shoe is on the other foot.....and that shoe doesn't FIT.....(!!) Sad

Again, the Mets put up a grand fight for a so-called "lowly" team - especially compared with the "YINO's" a.k.a. "Noo Yawk Grummans."

Clearly for those insufferable, haughty, arrogant fans - and especially apropos given this day - their coach turned into a pumpkin mighty fast. Only with the lights from the "Jack O'Lantern" out. The Dodgers, for their part, seemed determined to seal the deal not only before Halloween, but before the month ended (the next game, if there had been a Game 6, would've been Nov. 1).

Good points, all.

Recall, now the old saying:

".......the BIGGER they are, the HARDER they fall............"

You and I will BOTH be in total accord that the past two seasons have been indeed MORE than TURBULENT for BOTH "Noo Yawk" teams; the HIGHS and LOWS were anything BUT subtle.

But, now, with the "YINOS"/"NY GRUMMANS" forced to face reality, all of that trademark brag, bluster, and arrogance simply evaporated, like an early-morning mist over New York Harbor.............

GOOD connection! Wink

Just thought of this...........

It's going to be QUITE a spell before we again hear Eyewitness News anchor Bill Ritter intone "ALLLllllllrisssse", now that the "YINOs"/"NY GRUMMANS"/"tin men/"mice" won't be around for several months. Rolling Eyes

"Uncle Hoiman" probably won't be setting foot out of Brooklyn for a long while, either!

In retrospect, folks were getting pretty excited with all of the home runs batted by Mr. Judge; but, IMHO, his "homers" seemed more "theatrical" than anything else, and indeed NOT in the same "vein" as, say, "The Bambino", "The Mick", or Berra..............the "living cartoon" aura seemed to get more and more tangible with each passing game.

Too, I found this QUITE odd.....

On CBS News at 11, NOT ONE MENTION of last night's "Bombers' bombing"....nada, nothing, ZILCH.

I DID hear that Juan Soto is going to be a "free agent" (I believe I "hoid" right); this "YINO's" salary was LIGHT-YEARS beyond OBSCENE.

I DID get a good chuckle when I "loined" that the Spanish-language announcer for the "NY GRUMMANS" is "Rickie Ricardo"! (wonder if he still resides at 623 E. 68th Street!)

Bygone buses in "El-Yay"...........

"......in July, 1941, LARy acquired 17 YELLOW TD-3205s, primarily for use on feeder routes. Also, 100 of the first TD-4502s went to LOS ANGELES MOTOR COACH COMPANY......."

".......the 1953 TDH-4801s were the first transit buses built with air suspension. This type was also the last new buses purchased by PACIFIC ELECTRIC. In 1953, the bus operations became METROPOLITAN COACH LINES in 1953. That company operated most of the former PE's bus and electric rail routes until 1958, when it became part of the MTA......"

"Foither"...........

Recall, that by 1959, the transplanted Dodgers were already running hot, winning the World Series for that year

At that time, METROPOLITAN COACH LINES was operating the last remnants of the once-vast "Red Car" empire; the MTA would continue to operated narrow-gauge PCCs and trolleybuses until 1963.

Between 1960 and 1961, the MTA would purchase 240 Fishbowls, and these buses were 40 feet long, and were 102 inches in width; all had center exit doors, and were the same on the exteriors.

155 of these new buses, interestingly enough, has standard 51-passenger transit-type interiors, while the other 85 were fitted out as suburbans.

The 1961 MTA order was mainly to replace the older buses then in service, including the oldest purchased by PACIFIC ELECTRIC.......

The "Torpedo" in "El-Ay"............

A "soitan" California city that is home to the "Woild Series" champion Dodgers placed one of the largest orders for the RTS in 1985, with 940 "T8J-204s".

Later, in 1992, Los Angeles was purchasing large numbers of methanol powered-"T80-206s"; over 300 of this type were purchased between 1992 and 1993.

Interestingly, a number of LACMTA "Torpedos" were later refurbished/repainted, and migrated to Fairfax and Muncie.............

I.I.N.M., "El-Lay" got quite a few more Fishbowls (of the "Bullet" variety) by the time of not only the Dodgers' 1963 sweep of the Yankees, but also their 1965 win over the Minnesota Twins (and, on the debit side, their being swept in 1966 by the Baltimore Orioles).

Interesting how "El-Lay's" bus widths at that point were the same as "Noo Yawk's," given both the "Tee-Yay" fleet and those of FACL and ST (1960-61, after all, was pre-" 'stoa").

One of those "BINO's" that 'NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629' and I expounded on at various points? They may be, as noted, "insipid" and all that, but torching? That they don't deserve.
