A man boarded a city bus in LA earlier, threatened the driver at gunpoint; the hijacked bus sped through the streets, blowing through red lights and interesections, plowing into other vehicles, before finally crashing into the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton.
Thank God no fatalities, and the lowlife responsible is now in police custody.
How grateful I am that I no longer use mass transit (I have not been on an NJT bus in over 8 years)
What has happened to the world.............

On a related note:
In Carol Burnett's autobio, "ONE MORE TIME", she frequently detailed riding both LA buses and the "red streetcars" with her mother and grandmother as a girl during the 1940s, and often near midnight when she was dashing between streetcar and bus connections when she was at UCLA in the early 1950s.
No reason for fear, or to feel leery or uneasy.
How well I can recall Mom and I riding the buses (and trains) well after dark, , back in the 1960s, with not even the slightest inkling of fear or uneasiness.
How low we've sunk as a society since then............
