"Trains To Planes"? Ironically-through the 1940's-one COULD ride on a double-ended B&QT streetcar to La Guardia Airport-----a direct subway link to the airport still does not exist to this day (the closest to a direct subway link to a New York airport was the long-defunct "Train To The Plane"/"JFK EXPRESS"-which-of-course-required a bus transfer) Your's Truly has toyed with quite a few scenarios which entail direct subway links to both La Guardia and JFK--------way back in 1952-Boston had the distinction of opening the first direct rapid transit link in the nation to an airport on what is today's "Blue Line"-----Chicago Surface Lines (CSL)-back in the days when DC-3's were still new-also had direct streetcar connections to an airport (reached by South Cicero line shuttle cars)-------"NYO" |
