Those seemed like strange choices for that type of service. I believe they had a “baggage room” at the rear of the main level, accessed by a side door.
But they were resplendent in UP’s gleaming armour yellow, grey, and red striped “Streamliner” color scheme.😎

UP also had some like painted coaches, for its shuttle from the Ketchum, ID station to UP’s Sun Valley ski resort.
IIRC, you can see them in use, in a scene from the old film, “Sun Valley Serenade”. I believe those coaches featured custom styled round porthole side windows, to match those on UP’s McKeen motorcars…

UP’s subsidiary Utah Parks Company coaches did not follow the railroad colors.

traildriver:

Agreed; as I commented earlier, the Old Look-style rear end treatment DID seem a bit "unusual" for that type of bus (no complaints from Yours Truly, however!) Wink

I know one Union Pacific PDA-4101 was, quite awhile back beautifully restored to its original livery by EASTSHORE/FALCON LINES....QUITE a handsome bus, for certain! Very Happy

Great catch Clap

Wish I could see a better resolution of that thumbnail shot, trainside…
The high mounted headlight makes that coach look like it could be used as a “hi-railer”.
What’d that one commenter say, maybe built by White?

I am glad that you mentioned this old film, and the buses; I would have NEVER have known, otherwise....thank you! Wink

"The Hound", South Of The Border.........

Am curious as to when GREYHOUND began offering service to Mexico, and what cities/towns it served (also connections with regional Mexican carriers)

I am guessing that what remains of GREYHOUND today no longer provides service "south of the border" (unless I am mistaken)

The era I am most familiar with, pre-1987, Greyhound Lines never actually crossed the border into Mexico, but provided good connections with various Mexican carriers at US border towns in Texas, NM, AZ, and CA.

It was sometime in the late ‘90’s and 2,000’s, that they crossed the border themselves into places like Tijuana, and later somewhat further, or did so thru a subsidiary company.

I really never learned much about it.
Maybe this wiki article can give you some leads…

traildriver:

Appreciate both the information you have provided as well as the link; this is a lot more information that I had previously known.....thanks! Wink

Speaking of Mexico..........

In "FLXIBLE INTERCITY BUSES" (Luke), there are a few pages of photos of FLXIBLE and DINA coaches in Mexico.

Some of the companies listed:

NORTE De SONORA

TRANSPORTES CHIHAUHUENES

TRANSPORTES ESTRELLA BLANCA

ESTRELLAS De ORO

These buses in the photos, rugged and handsome, were all based on the FLXILINER..........

Regarding the older PG/PD-types.........

This photo was taken alongside the old 9th Avenue El stub at Anderson Avenue in the Bronx, sometime during the 1950's.

Note the centrally-mounted light just above the destination sign.......

Here's an interesting bit from "BUS WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BUSES" (Stauss, 1988)........

".......in 1982, Trailways opened a second plant to manufacture a new two-axle suburban Model 10, at Harlingen, Texas, creating Trailways Manufacturing, Inc......."

"......the original Brownsville manufacturing plant remained under Eagle International. Trailways placed 19 suburbans in Atlantic City service......."
