In looking at so many old photos of vintage Australian coaches and buses, it does seem a bit odd, in a way, that, though GM-built buses such as 4106's and "Buffalos" were to be seen "Down Under" , Old Looks and Fishbowls were not to be seen (although, as we've seen earlier here) there WERE some Australian buses that were clearly inspired by the Fishbowl.

Too, recall the FLXIBLE Clipper/Visicoach-style coaches that were once commonly seen in Australia.

Australia, back in the day, was indeed a treasure trove for the "bus spotters" of that era; one could see many British-type buses and coaches, as well as "Yank"-style highway coaches that easily could have been found on any American highway......

Here is a very detailed, exhaustive gistory on the CHRISTCHURCH TRANSPORT BOARD:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christchurch_Transport_Board

Scroll down the page to see several photos of the AEC "Reliance" and "Regal" city buses; these buses clearly had a "Yank": look to them.

The windshields of these vintage, now-classic buses recall the prewar TWIN COACHES, while the windows clearly resemble those used on postwar ACF-BRILL transit and suburban buses........

An Australian "SCENICRUISER" that, clearly, is indeed more of a Fishbowl..... Wink

GREYHOUND buses in Australia, then and now.....

https://seeinglooking.blogspot.com/2020/09/greyhound-coaches-australia.html

The sleek, powerful-looking vintage coach in the top photo easily would have looked right at home on some Canadian highway, back in the 1950's and 1960's.

Also, interesting to note the "GREYHOUND PULLMAN" lettering over the windshields......

Looking very much like a "hybrid" between a 1960's-era Japanese tin lithographed toy and a "generic" highway bus of that era, this distinctive 1971 "CONTINENTAL COACHLINES" made for a handsome-looking highway coach, indeed!Wink

There is also hints of the "EAGLE" in the front end (also, the style of lettering does look a bit familiar as well).....

Here's a nostalgic color photo (1950's/1960's-era) of a sleek "GREYHOUND COACHES" bus rumbling through some desolate countryside in Australia......
