Here we see a 6000-series single-ended Peter Witt crossing the Brooklyn Bridge (running on the "FULTON" line), with the BMT el tracks to the right.
After the El trains stopped running over the BB in 1944, the streetcars were switched over to the former El trackage, to allow the former streetcar ROW to be converted into an additional vehicular lane.......

In 1949, one year prior the the abandonment of streetcar service over the Brooklyn Bridge, we see a PCC swinging off the former BMT El trackage, now the exclusive ROW for the streetcars.
When the El trains stopped running over the span, the third rail and signals were removed, and the trolley wires shifted over to the former El tracks.....

Here's an 8000-series Peter Witt at the Brooklyn end of the Brooklyn Bridge; again, the heavy steel girderwork (used as trolley wire guides) are quite prominent in this view.......

While the PCC cars were sleek and modern, to my eye, they were more like a bus, while the older cars, with double ends and doors on both sides were more "railroad train" like... |

traildriver:
Funny you mention this; when the PCC's first debuted, many streetcar buffs either loved them or hated them, saying that "they looked too much like a bus".
The postwar PCC's (which, of course, never ran in Brooklyn) looked quite a bit like the Old Looks of that era, especially with their standee windows.
Me, well, I simply love ALL trolleys, PCC and/or non-PCC (the ugly, hideous, monstrous, light rail cars of today, looking more like giant caterpillars and/or oversized mutated insects, is ANOTHER story altogether!)

B&QT's unique (CLARK) #1000*, the only Brooklyn PCC to have with standee windows......

*Note, also, that the CLARK design was more angular in appearance than a "conventional" PCC...... |

I think I like the look of the Clark car better than the St. Louis. Those double stream doors with the center divider's look like their BMT Standard's doors |

Nice shots...
Not much of a "cockpit". I haven't seen the operator's compartment in a long time. Not much instrumentation, is there? I suppose an air gauge and perhaps an ammeter? |

For comparison, here is the motorman's "station" at the front of a restored CCo car up at Shore line; this arrangement was typical of streetcars of that era.......
