Segregated buses, sadly, were not only to be found in the United States, but, also, overseas.

In South Africa (and Ceylon, now Sri Lanka) there were separate buss fleets used for whites and non-whites.

If a bus was carrying white passenger only, a light would flash on the front as the bus approached a "halt" (bus stop); this, along with a sign, would announce that the bus only carried whites.

Also, buses for black African passengers would have signs that read: "NON WHITES ONLY".....
