The looming, steely complexity of the Els at 34th St.,; hard to believe not a trace remains of this complex infrastructure today, except for the former substation, now a yeshiva.......

This 1931 photo (showing the 3rd Avenue El spur subtation at 34th St. in 1931) is particularly interesting; note the top portion of the bus in the foreground......

141 St. and Jackson, 1974.

This is a truly "the-way-'Noo-Yawk'-used-to-be" scenes, away from the main drags.

Here we have Fishbowl #6836 (assigned to the "TB" line, according to the photo caption), and a classic two-aspect traffic signal, including a battered (now classic) Chevy, and much in the way of assorted old signage.......

Lexington & 126th St., 1972.

Here's Fishbowl #6720 holding down a 'TB" schedule; also, note another old two-aspect traffic signal, and the "BUS STOP CAFE" on the left.

Also, the once-familiar "RHEINGOLD" batwing ad......

Webster & Gun Hill Road, 1974.

By the time of this photo, the 3rd Avenue El had already been abandoned, and the lower level tracks at Gun Hill Road (seen in the background) were now silent.

Note, also, the little "BUS STOP STATIONARY" shop, to the left of Fishbowl #6463......

Hunts Point & Seneca, 1981

Here's MaBSTOA #6623 working the "Bx34"; this photo clearly (and sadly) illustrates the ravages suffered by the South Bronx in the late 1960's and 1970's......

West Farms Square, 1971.

Here's another glimpse of a run-down "Noo Yawk" neighborhood*, back in the day.

Depressing, surely, but there is still much to interest the student of "street nostalgia", regarding the older, more run-down areas.....

*Fishbowl #3133, while not at all old, could also use a little TLC......
