WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TWO magnificent portraits of old, old friends!!!!!!!!
Mom and I used to ride those gorgeous BRILLS on DE CAMP's old #22 out to Verona (from JSQ), to visit my aunt and uncle who then lived in West Orange.
Those buses LOOKED and SOUNDED tough!!!!!!
I have a number of pictures of the O&B Old Looks in the back lot of the Fairview Garage, that I took one quiet summer Sunday in 1974.
When we moved here in 1974, I saw those big Old Looks every day, and often just had a good ol' time riding them!
Today's NJT equipment just doesn't do it for me......
THANKS AGAIN for bringing back some great ol' memories!!

LOVE those PSNJ Old Look suburbans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I especially like the picture at Penn Station, Newark; when that long-ago picture was snapped, PCC's still ruled the City Subway!
I've long called the Old Look suburbans "Jersey Buses", as when I was a kid, they seemed to be just about everywhere.....man, I miss those days!!!!
THANKS AGAIN for sharing these AWESOME old photos of REAL buses!!!!!!

(I also really miss those PS Fishbowls, as well.....cannot believe it is now 30 YEAR, at least, since I last saw or rode one!)

Nice shots, thanks for posting!
I rode one of those O&B Suburbans from the Fort Hamilton Brooklyn military induction center (AFEES), chartered to take us new recruits to JFK airport on 20 June 1966, for my first flight on Braniff to San Antonio, TX...

traildriver:
Since September, 1974, I have lived within 5 minutes (or less) of the former O&B garage on Anderson Avenue; when my folks and I first moved here, the fleet was still Old Looks and Fishbowls.
About 1977, the Old Looks were retired (I nearly cried when I saw one being towed to the scrap yard, pulling out of the garage forecourt)
I recall seeing several ex-INTER-CITY Old Look suburbans at the garage at this time (MAPLEWOOD had taken over O&B and INTER-CITY); oddly, I only saw one ex-INTER-CITY Old Look in service, and the several in the back of the garage soon vanished.
A few 4104's remained for a while; I first recall riding them during the PATH strike of summer, 1980, into the "Port-of-Authority", where I caught the IND "CC" (R-10's, back then!) train for downtown, heading to work.
O&B also rostered several TDM-5106's (single door, standee windows, a/c unit above the rear windows); PSNJ and RED & TAN also had them; only 110 of these buses were built, and PSNJ bought 85 of them.
PSNJ's were numbered in the "M" series........
