Though I posted these links in my "Puerto Rican Day Parade" thread, I wanted to also post them here (both were taken at Lexington & 102nd) as I was wondering if the Flexies were better at climbing grades on certain routes than were their GMC counterparts, or, was hill-climbing performance more or less about the same........

*Also, note the "MANPOWER" employment agency sign; such a sign would be deemed QUITE sexist, today!!!!!!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked

(the "ZENITH" hearing aids sign also wonderfully dates this old street scene, taken a half-century ago).......

Utica Avenue & Avenue N, 1972*.

*Note, too, the old metal incandescent lamp fixtures (remember how commonplace these once were?) mounted on the ancient line poles, themselves relics of a long-ago era........

Photo 1390 shows 1969 Flxible with fleet number 7243 which was renumbered, originally as 4057. The 1969 Flxibles were renumbered into the 7200-7400's just before retirement in order to make way for the 1984 RTS's 3800-4218.

Thanks for this info.

All I could tell (by the paint scheme) that these were newer photos, where the old "Tee-Yay" green and 1970's "Em-Tee-Yay" blue had vanished........

Rockway & Glenwood, 1981.

Note that #5004 is still attired in classic "Tee-Yay" green, even at this late date.

Also, note the near-microscopic "Not In Service" reading on the roller curtain.......

And front sign seemingly cannibalized from a c.1960 roller curtain . . .

62nd & New Utrecht, 1981.

Much nostalgia here, including a train of grimy "42's" up above, and an "Em-Tee-Ay" driver wearing a tie........
