Can anyone get some pics of Newburgh and Poughkeepsie transit buses? I seen Leprachaun and Short Line buses up there, but I never seen Newburgh or Poughkeepsie's transit buses, I know they exist.

The Don of All Buses,

I'm ashamed to say that I passed through Newburgh last year on my way up to have Thanksgiving at my daughters farm house outside Kingston and did see small local buses but took little notice as to what they were.

However, I can tell you the Newburgh Bus Corporation bought three GM SDM 4502's numbered 305, 306 and 307 over a three year period between 1963 and 1966.

If I come up with any later information I will get back to you.

Newburgh's local services, via Leprechaun, use Orion V's and Thomas Transliners. Both are also in use on their shuttle between Stewart Airport and the Beacon Metro-North station.

Poughkeepsie currently runs a fleet of Gillig Phantoms with a single Champion Defender and a single Thomas Transliner. Their fleet is nearing an overhaul as they're about to take delivery of some Gillig Advantage hybrids to replace the way-overdue-for-retirement older Phantoms and the Champion. Pictures of their buses can be seen here.[/url]

Since when does Leprechaun Lines have O5s, however? I might want to see what that fleet looks like in the future, but there isn't enough daylight this time of year.

Since at least 2005. I remember seeing one going through the parking lot of the Adams Fairacre Farms in Newburgh en route to Stewart the last time I flew out of there (when the airport was at its low point). They looked pretty new then so I think they'd be on the other side of the river if anything.

For a county of its size, population wise at least, the transit service in Orange County is awfully sparse and uncoordinated.

thanx guys, you guys are the greatest!!!!!!! Very Happy I just got a couple of other questions, a while ago I went on Poughkeepsie's web site and saw what looks like an older model Neoplan. It had some kind of stripes on the side(couldn't see it well)did poughkeepsie change the color style, or are those buses wrapped? sorry for all the questions, I draw and design as well as redesign buses.

The bus in question would be a 2004 Gillig Phantom; the orange and blue scheme is relatively new and came with the single Thomas Transliner that came the year before. It only looks old due to that Poughkeepsie Transit's buses are very low-tech (rollsigns, Main coin drop fareboxes) and the maintenance there is VERY poor.
