Just as we motorists, computer users and cell phone owners don't usually think too much about the advanced electronics used today, NYC bus passengers likely are completely unaware of how modern electronics aboard DOB buses (i.e. modern fare boxes, automatic vehicle location devices, etc.) help NYCT planners gain valuable data to better plan service patterns:

Very interesting use of technology. I was surprised that the MTA is this advanced. Is this technology being used in the (long awaited) Staten Island Bus Study?
